Beer Cans Scattered in Car of Drunk Driver, Cops Say

Police said Oakland man admitted to drinking.

An Oakland man was charged with drinking in his car after police said they found several cans of Natural Light beer scattered throughout his Honda Wednesday morning.

Henry Pascual, 40, was arrested for DWI, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and issued summonses for failure to produce documents and not having liability insurance.

Pascual's car was stopped by Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg on Route 23 North around 11:30 a.m., according to a report released by Kinnelon Police Lt. John Schwartz. Ehrenburg smelled alcohol on Pascual's breath, Schwartz said, and saw the beer cans in the car before Pascual allegedly admitted to drinking. Pascual also allegedly failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested.
