One-on-One with Oakland's Precocious Kid Pollster

Ryan Schwertfeger has been polling the borough's residents to understand their political views since 2010.

If you live in Oakland and care even vaguely about local politics, Ryan Schwertfeger is a young man with whom you're likely familiar.

Schwertfeger, who turned 18 this month, has been conducting political polls of residents in the borough since 2010. His appearance outside the Oakland Post Office — clipboard in hand —  is widely understood to herald the beginning of the borough's political season.
