Oakland School Budget Voting; What You Need To Know

Public Budget Hearing Announced, Important Dates, Times and Places.

The Oakland Public Schools District is nearing the end of the planning process for the 2013-14 budget. A number of important times and dates have been release. Keep a close eye on the dates listed below if you want your vote to count.  

The district has planned a budget hearing at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, March 27 in the Valley Middle School Cafetorium. The polls will be open for registered voters from 2-9pm on Tuesday, April 16.

Voter registration is currently open. You can find voter registration application forms here. These forms will also be available at the districts’ schools, in the Superintendent’s Office and at the Oakland Municipal Building. Voter registration forms should be mailed to: Commissioner of Registration, One Bergen County Plaza, Room 310, Hackensack, NJ 07601-7076.

Voters who plan on participating must be registered to vote by Tuesday, March 26. The Municipal Building will be open until 9 pm on March 26 to accommodate new voters.  

Vote by mail ballots are also available for those who will not be able to vote on April 16. Those ballots can be found attached to this article and here and it is recommended that they are mailed out no later than April 5. Vote by mail ballots should be mailed to: John S. Hogan, Bergen County Clerk, One Bergen County Plaza, Room 130, Hackensack, NJ 07601-7076.
