Fever Pitch Event Promotes Harmony Between Businesses, Community

The Oakland Community of Commerce and the Oakland Public Events Committee brought together the community with area businesses with music, snacks and treats.

Hundreds of Oakland residents came out to show their sportsmanship and enjoyed food, prizes and bags of goodies during the city's annual Fever Pitch event.

The annual baseball and softball parade made its way to town last Saturday marked with some big changes from previous years, music, including healthy snacks, a photo booth and raffles provided in part by the Oakland Community of Commerce.

Chairman Peter Kikot said the purpose of the event was to link the community with area businesses not only to establish rapport, but to show what and who is available to residents.

“This event was a great way for the members of our business community to interact with Oakland residents  and to show them that the business community is just as concerned with the small town atmosphere that Oakland provides.  It was also a great event for the children," said Kikot. “We were so happy to see the smiles on the faces of the raffle winners and the laughs from all of the children as they enjoyed the many rides, photo booth and all the fresh food and drinks provide by the Oakland Public Events Committee."

Reusable Shop Rite bags stuffed with coupons and treats from OPEC and the Community of Commerce were also provided to parade goers.

“Their promotion of reusable bags is in line with our mutual commitment to the environment and sustainability here in Oakland, said Michael Kozak, Oakland Environmental Commissioner and Oakland Public Events member.
