Local Scholars: College News and Notes

Here's a look at some of the collegians making news across the country.

Katherine Hansen, a resident of Oakland, has been named to the Fall 2012 Champlain College's Dean's List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Hansen is majoring in psychology.

Elizabeth MacNeil, a sophomore majoring in psychology, and Seth Sharber, a senior majoring in chemistry, both Oakland residents, were named to the Dean's List at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa.

Michael Laurice and Joseph Natale, both of Oakland, and Caitlin Izzo of Wyckoff, were named to the Dean's List at the University of New Haven for the fall 2012 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean's List.

Oakland residents Cassandra Setter, a junior management major, and Morgan Levine, an undeclared freshman, and Amanda Brogan of Franklin Lakes, a sports management major, were named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2012 semester at York College of Pennsylvania.

Kristopher Kolenut of Franklin Lakes was named to the Honor Roll at Brevard College in North Carolina for the fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Alexandra Siegel of Wyckoff, a first-year student at Gettysburg College, was awarded a Presidential Scholarship by the college. Gettysburg College recognizes students' academic achievement in high school by awarding merit scholarships. The Presidential Scholarship goes to top-ranking applicants based upon their grade-point average, class rank, and SAT or ACT scores.

Johnathan Constance of Wyckoff, a third-year student in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, made the Dean's List for the Fall 2012 quarter.

Laura Benvenuto of Wyckoff, a senior at Emmanuel College in Boston was named to the schools Presidents List with a 4.0 cumulative average for the Fall semester of 2012.

Brandon Nicodemo, a resident of Wyckoff, has been named to the Fall 2012 Fairfield University Dean's List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Nicodemo is a finance major in the Dolan School of Business.
