Awareness was the top priority of the fifth annual basketball event.

Fair Lawn High School hosted the fifth annual Breast Cancer Basketball Challenge on Saturday to raise breast cancer awareness among female high school athletes across North Jersey.

The event aims to educate the 300 participating student-athletes about the disease.

At the event, Kim Tanis, a breast cancer survivor and the head coach of the Indian Hills High School girls varsity basketball team, spoke to the teams about her breast cancer diagnosis and battle against the disease.
