Indian Hills Softball Gets Nod from Oakland Council
The honor tops off a host of recognitions the championship team earned throughout the season.
The Oakland Borough Council recognized the Indian Hills championship softball team at its meeting Wednesday night.
In addition to taking home the state softball championship in June, the team won a more than impressive 32 games during the season—including a 26-game winning streak—coming just two games shy of a state record set by the school’s 2010 squad.
The Bergen County Women’s Coaches Association recognized five Indian Hills players with a place its 2013 all-county teams, three of them to coveted spots on the on the first team: pitcher Devin Durando, catcher Nicole Paiotti and outfielder Madison Levine.

Mayor Linda Schwager awarded certificates of recognition to the players, noting that 14 on the team came up through the borough’s recreation softball program.
“We’re so very proud of what we do,” Coach Joe Leicht said. “We work very hard and they very much deserve the recognition.”
