Oakland Rec Softball Rallies Around Tim Pernetti

The former Rutgers Athletic Director will receive a show of support from his fellow recreation commissioners and their athletes on Saturday.

The Oakland Recreation Softball Program will be coming together Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Burt Williams Field at the Recreation Complex.

The event will pay tribute to former Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti who is an Oakland resident and Oakland Recreation’s football and cheerleading commissioner.

Each softball team is assigned a college name such as LSU, Rutgers and Miami instead of using professional names such as Yankees, Mets and Red Sox.

“The Oakland Rutgers softball teams will be there in uniform with a Pro-Pernetti banner to take a photo in support of Tim,” said the Oakland Recreation Commission Chairman Mike Guadagnino. “It will be a nice show of community spirit and support for our fellow recreation commissioner.”

Tim Pernetti resigned from his position as Rutgers Athletic Director after the fallout that followed the release of a video that highlighted Rutgers Men’s Basketball Mike Rice’s abusive behavior.
